Service and meter installation in excess of these distances will result in additional charges of $32 per metre (plus applicable taxes). The Enbridge Gas residential service application (e-App) has been revised to reflect the excess length customer attachment policy.

Getting Connected

1st Is your home or business being serviced by Natural Gas

2nd Applying for a gas meter

An application to have a gas meter installed must be submitted on-line, to Enbridge. (This should be done ASAP). Enbridge recommends that this be done by a licensed heating contractor they know the codes and where a meter can and cannot go.

3rd Is the meter live?

After the meter is installed on the building, before it can be unlocked and activated somebody has to determine if it is actually live (is gas actually flowing yet)? This can usually be determined by calling Enbridge (will have more information and contact numbers when they become available).

4th Getting the meter unlocked

Once the gas meter is installed and is live (gas is actually flowing to the meter), for homes and business already using propane all appliances that are being connected to natural gas should be converted or ready to convert to natural gas, an appointment must be made to have the meter unlocked, this can usually be done over the phone. All appliances getting connected to natural gas must be ready to fire and installed to Code and the Manufactures Instructions on the day the meter is scheduled to be unlocked. A re-inspection fee will be charged for 2nd attempts to unlock a meter.

For homes and business not already using propane an appointment must still be made to have the meter unlocked, once the appointment is confirmed all natural appliances will have to be installed on the same day (this depends on the time of year if a meter is being unlocked at a time of year when heating equipment is not needed the equipment can be installed ahead of the meter unlock).
